EDMONTON, AB, CANADA - In July 2008, the OPC Training Institute (OPCTI), released the 20 most common OPC Technology questions asked by automation integrators. In August 2008, a forum of OPC experts assembled online to provide answers to the hundreds of automation professionals registered for the event.
Now, OPCTI has released a 20 page document containing answers to the top OPC integration questions. The document is available to OPC integrators via the OPCTI website at http://www.opcti.com/top20. The panel of experts who provided the answers included Kepware’s Executive VP & CTO Tony Paine, Software Toolbox’s VP of Operations Colin Winchester and OPCTI’s President and CEO Randy Kondor.
In addition to the Top 20 OPC Integration questions, industry professionals were given the opportunity to submit questions bumping the total count of questions to a whopping 45. Popular questions revolved around authentication and security issues. Questions include; How do workgroups and domains affect OPC? How will DCOM changes impact security? How do I use OPC across a firewall?
The questions were broken into 28 main categories including DCOM configuration, diagnostics, OPC performance, OPC Unified Architecture, industry trends and OPC capabilities among others.
OPCTI provides the document free of charge and answers all 45 questions, including the top 20 questions, asked by OPC integrators. The document can be downloaded at www.opcti.com.
