COP Designation
There is an increasing awareness of the importance of trusted information sources and the competencies of those individuals entrusted with automation responsibilities. One means of differentiating abilities and competency in the primary and related areas of automation and process control is through the attainment of appropriate certifications. OPCTI encourages all its OPC students to plan for the future by identifying and earning the COP certification to assist in attaining their career and personal goals.
The Certified OPC Professional (COP) designation is awarded to people who have demonstrated their proficiency with OPC technology, design, architecture and installation.
Integrators play a crucial role in all OPC installations. Successful installation and deployment of OPC projects are consistently done by people who have the required qualifications to handle the project. OPCTI’s comprehensive workshops provide automation professionals with a proven training program that enables them to quickly take on the challenging task of establishing a robust communication infrastructure. Each workshop is composed of various units that increase in complexity. In each unit, students first learn the theory followed by hands-on exercises that demonstrate common contemporary issues. Each unit has additional exercises to challenge even the most advanced students.
OPCTI’s training enables students to quickly gain knowledge that would otherwise take weeks of random trials to attain. The exercises actually came from intensive interviews with OPC technical support personnel from various OPC vendor corporations.
Students earn credits toward professional designations while increasing their knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- OPC Specifications (DA, HDA, A&E, UA, etc)
- Client/server architecture
- OPC configuration
- Eliminating DCOM problems
- Diagnosing and debugging OPC systems
- Solving OPC interoperability problems
- Troubleshooting techniques
- OPC communication infrastructure architecture
- Data acquisition through OPC Client applications
- Design and programming of OPC Servers
